Caring for a canvas tote bag
Always check the washing instructions on the label first. Canvas is a durable material, but some of the patterns, lettering, and post-prints on it can be sensitive to high temperatures or harsh chemicals.
Machine wash
If the manufacturer recommends it on the fabric label, you can even wash the bag in a washing machine, but it is worth choosing a gentle program and setting a low temperature. To protect the prints, turn the bag inside out before putting it in the drum, and use gentle, environmentally friendly detergents. Avoid bleach, as it can severely fade the colors and damage the material itself.
Removing stains from a bag
If you have a small stain, try spot-treating the problem area first, as a bag doesn't need to be washed regularly. Dampen the stain, apply a little detergent or stain remover, and then gently rub with a soft cloth.
It is always a good idea to test the cleaning agent on a less visible area first to avoid damaging the print or color. Even for more stubborn stains, always prefer gentle solutions.
Drying
After washing, it is recommended to air dry the bag, preferably in a shaded place, as direct sunlight can fade the colors .
If there is no suitable outdoor space, it will dry perfectly in a clean, airy room. When hand washing, gently squeeze out the water, but do not wring it, as wringing will wrinkle the material and may damage the print.
If necessary, you can iron the bag on a low to medium heat setting – especially if it has creased during washing. Place a thin cotton cloth over it or turn it inside out before placing the iron on it to protect the patterns and inscriptions from damage caused by high heat.
When storing, try to keep the bag folded on a flat surface to avoid unnecessary creases. With proper cleaning and storage, canvas fan bags are durable and retain the beauty and uniqueness of their patterns for a long time.
