100% polyester is an extremely practical and fashionable material, which is popular for everyday wear, sports or travel. Polyester material has many advantages: it is durable, dries quickly and is also resistant to wrinkles.
However, in order for them to retain their original quality and aesthetic appearance for a long time, it is important to keep some basic cleaning and care considerations in mind.
Manufacturer's Guide
As a first step, it is always a good idea to check the manufacturer's label or instructions, as these usually contain the most important cleaning recommendations. 100% polyester can usually be machine washed on a gentle cycle at a low temperature.
However, for safety reasons, it is advisable to place the product in a laundry bag to avoid possible damage to zippers and buckles and deformation of the product.
Choose a gentle detergent recommended for colored clothes, and avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as these can fade colors and damage the fabric.
Treatment of minor contaminants
If you only have minor stains to deal with, or if the manufacturer does not recommend machine washing, hand cleaning can also be a great solution. Gently rub the surface with lukewarm water, a little mild detergent, and a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. For more stubborn dirt, you can pre-treat it with a little stain remover or baking soda, then rinse the product thoroughly.
Drying
When drying, always let the product dry naturally, away from direct sunlight and heaters. Excessive heat can easily damage the polyester fibers, which will significantly shorten the life of the product. If you see that the product is wrinkled, you can iron it very carefully at a low temperature, inside out or through a thin material, although polyester usually does not require ironing.
Storage
